Brief description:
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship Program for the promotion of foreigners is aimed at foreign students and doctoral candidates who have already successfully completed their studies in their home country and complete a further study (postgraduate program / Master), a doctorate or at least a two-semester research stay at a German university.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The amount and duration of the financial support depends on the study objective. Graduates (master and postgraduate students), receive a monthly scholarship in the amount of € 850, -. The regular delivery period is two years.
Doctoral candidates, provided that they have fulfilled the requirements for admission to doctoral studies at a university of the Federal Republic of Germany without conditions, and scholarship holders with a comparable degree to the German Master’s degree, who come to Germany for research purposes and who can prove at least two years of scientific activity at the beginning of the scholarship period, receive a monthly scholarship in the amount of € 1,100, -. The regular funding period for doctoral candidates is three years.
A number of grants and subsidies is also provided – up to an amount of € 120 for the costs of health and long-term care insurance on application.
Tuition fees at the university can be reimbursed up to € 500, – per semester. However, only costs for courses that are related to the study or doctoral project are recognized.

They should:
  • • have above-average academic achievements
  • • have a broad general education and a keen interest in political issues
  • • have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights
  • • In addition, they have already actively engaged in their home countries through voluntary work for other people and society
  • • be able to develop an own point of view and to practice tolerance towards dissenters
  • • be highly motivated and convince us with your plans and your potential.
Scholarship holders are expected to actively participate in the non-material support. This includes the attendance of at least four events of our seminar program in the course of the promotion as well as the regular, committed participation in the meetings of the university groups of the scholarship holders. After completing their studies or completing their doctorate, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung expects their former scholarship holders to work for the benefit and development of relations between their home country and the Federal Republic of Germany.
You should also be no older than 30 at the time of application.
Application instructions:
There are two ways of applying: On the one hand, you have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung abroad at the respective foreign office where there are planned selection conferences. For 2018, they are held in Belarus, Chile, Russia and Ukraine; the deadlines can be found on the local websites of the KAS offices and are independently set.
On the other hand, if you are already in Germany, you can apply directly to the Foundation before 15 July (12:00) of the respective year.
